Vasilije Trbić was a Chetnik fighter.[1]

He was of Croatian Serb origins, born in Bijelo Brdo near Dalj, Slavonia, present-day Erdut, Croatia. He went to school in his birthplace and then in Serbia. He wanted to be a monk at the Chilandar Monastery but in 1902 some Greek monks were murdered and he decided to leave Mount Athos. He left the asceticism and became a Chetnik fighter. He fought in all the major Chetnik operations. He shot and seriously wounded a blood brother and fellow Chetnik in 1906, but they continued to be best friends.

In June 1913, he led the Serbian forces that crushed the Tikvesh Uprising in Macedonia.

In World War I he jumped behind the forces of Germany and Austria. He fought at the battlefields for a half year then returned to Thessalonica. He received the Order of the Star of Karageorge from King Aleksandar. After the Balkan Wars he settled in Veles with his family , During the Bulgarian occupation (1915–1918) the Bulgarians murdered his father. He became a politician as Radical representative and the member of Yugoslav National Party[2].

He was the father of Milivoje Trbić, a Chetnik vojvoda of World War II in Macedonia.
